Visible Fabric Marking with Removable Ink Pens
For tracing pattern markings, quilting and embroidery designs, or applique lines, choose from a variety of Removable Ink Pens. These fabric marking pens use removable ink that allows you to make temporary, easily visible markings on fabric that can be easily removed. No two fabrics are the same, so always test your marking tool on a scrap piece of fabric before using to be sure markings are visible and remove cleanly.
How Long Do Removable Marks Last?
Marking tools for sewing are made from different materials to ensure clean removal of any marks made on your fabric. The easiest to remove is Clay Chalk; markings made with clay tailor’s chalk can be easily brushed away, making this tool great for quick and less precise markings like hem markings that can be pinned or finished quickly. Air-soluble or “disappearing” inks will last about 24-72 hours, making them also a good choice for projects or details that can be finished more quickly. For markings you might need for longer periods of time, heat or water soluble marking tools (like wax chalk or water soluble pens and pencils) may be a more suitable choice, as they will remain on the fabric until ironed or rinsed out.
