Is this the same as a tailor’s ham? What’s the difference?

A:
The clapper is run along a pressed seam, it removes the moister and give you a really flat seam. You can also use it for pleats. A tailor's ham has 2 sides a cotton side for cotton, and the the wool side for items that need to be pressed at a lower temperature. It is used for pressing seams on curved seams of pressing areas that are rounded or have darts.
