Standard Irons

Standard Irons are convenient and easy to use. Their smaller, built-in water tank makes them more suited for ironing smaller quantities of fabric. Standard irons also offer several convenient features like auto-shutoff that are great for ironing for shorter periods of time.

gravity fed iron

Gravity-Fed Irons

Used by designers, tailors, and sewers for larger quantities of fabric, Gravity Feed steam irons are ideal for ironing for longer periods of time. They feature a larger external water reservoir and no auto-shutoff, making it possible to iron fabric for hours at a time without needing to refill.

industrial iron

All-Steam Irons

Industrial Steam Irons require a boiler, steam generator, or other steam system to operate and are used by professional workrooms, designers, and dry cleaners for the extra-powerful “dry” steam. Used for ironing large quantities of fabric quickly, with a crisp professional-quality finish.

Lowboy Irons

Lowboy Irons

Lowboy Irons are Steam/Electric replacement irons for use with a Lowboy or other steam system. Steam/Electric Irons combine internal temperature control with powerful “dry” steam for some of the most reliable irons around for commercial and industrial use.  Steam/Electric irons require connection to both a steam system and an electrical source.

wet vs dry steam

Wet vs. Dry Steam

Steam produced by Standard and Gravity-Fed irons is considered “wet” steam—water enters the iron either through a built-in reservoir or a gravity feed, where the steam is generated using heat within the iron itself. For Industrial Steam Irons, steam is generated under high pressure in an external Mini-Boiler, Lowboy, or other steam system and then fed through to the iron. Steam generated in this manner is considered a “dry” steam because of the lower moisture content. It is much more powerful and concentrated, making it great for industrial uses.
