Spun Polyester Serging Threads For Smooth, Strong Serging
Perform-X Serger Spun Polyester Threads are lightweight and strong, perfect for serging and fine sewing. Spun Polyester thread has a smooth soft finish and excellent sewability that makes it suitable for both knit and woven fabrics. These 100% Polyester threads are lightweight, strong, and have low lint, making them an excellent choice for serging and overlock machines. Available in several light weights and a variety of colors.
Spun Polyester Vs. Polyester Core
When it comes to Polyester Threads, there are two main styles that are commonly used, especially for serging threads. Spun Polyester refers to thread consisting of Polyester fibers that are spun into longer strands and then twisted together. Spun Poly Thread has a more natural look and feel, with the luster and sewability of cotton thread plus the strength and stretch of polyester. Spun Poly is also often available in larger spools. Corespun Polyester thread contains a polyester core which the outer fiber is wrapped around. This makes Polyester Core thread extra strong, and has the added benefit of a smooth, matte finish. Corespun Polyester is also known for having a very uniform, consistent look. Both Spun Polyester and Polyester Core are great choices for serging threads, and great for either woven or knit fabrics.

Tex Thread Size Chart & Thread Weight to Tex Conversion GuideIt’s common to see threads labeled with a “Tex” Number. But what does that number mean? Tex, or Tex Weight, is a standard way of measuring thread weight that’s deceptively easy to understand: the higher the Tex, the thicker the thread. That’s all there is to it! A thread’s Tex is equal to the weight in grams of 1000 meters of that thread, so a heavier thread has a higher Tex. For example, if 1000 meters of a thread weighs 30 grams, it is Tex 30. Typical light-weight sewing threads range from Tex 8-25, medium-weight sewing threads are Tex 25-40, and heavy-weight sewing threads are Tex 40 and up. We know that sewing thread weights can be confusing, so we put together a handy chart of some equivalents between commonly used thread weights to help you find the perfect match. Find an estimated equivalent on the chart below, or convert a thread weight on your own using our thread conversion chart. |
