Which shade of gold would you say is the closest to the Coats shade of red-orange denim top-stitching thread? I like the color and would like to try your thread but am afraid of choosing a shade that is too yellow or too brown. Thank you for your time!

We asked the Brother's technical department for the answer to your question. The short answer is “yes “ you can use a thicker thread In the cover stitch. It takes a little experimentation and depends a lot on how the thread feeds off the spool. It works better on the lower loopers but can definitely work in the third or top looper as a decorative feature. It is important to make sure the thread feeds at an even, unencumbered manner for the top looper. The tension will also need to be addressed. Turn it to a lesser number. And, in addition, lengthen the stitches. You might like to experiment and push the machine options. It takes a little determination to make it work.

A:
It is not recommended. Most people will use a heavyweight 100% polyester thread or a 69# bonded nylon thread, which is rot resistant and provides some elasticity.
