We consulted A&E's "Thread Recommendation by Garment" chart for the answer. For lightweight material, if using a Serger or Coverstitch a Tex 24 Poly Wrapped Poly Core thread or a Tex 24-35 Textured Polyester/ Nylon could be used. If this is a medium to heavy weight material , a Tex 40 Poly Wrapped Poly Core or Tex 35-50 Textured Polyester/Nylon should be used. The Maxi-Lock Swirl is a Spun Polyester, which isn't as strong as a Poly Wrapped Poly Core.

I see where you have posted that the “higher the tex, the heavier the thread”. Is there an equivalency chart where you could see what Tex you need if you wanted to duplicate a 50wt thread? Thanks.

Yes, the higher the tex the heavier the thread. Thread construction varies by the material it is made out of as well as its construction. A tex 27 poly covered poly core would be stonger than a tex 27 spun poly. Also, a tex 27 poly thread would have more stretch than a tex 27 cotton thread.

No, the “pattern” that you see on the spool may be different from time to time, it’s all going to depend on how the spool was wound. This mostly affects the Rainbow Color (SPT1167).

Good quality & quantity for the price
These varigated serger threads are good quality with lots on a cone. It's got a nice selection of colours, but I would prefer that the colour changes within the varigation would transition more slowly/subtly. I mainly use these as a colourful topstitch, or underside to a coverstitch and I'd prefer the colours didn't change so abruptly every inch or so.
