I am looking for heavier thread to sew suede elbow patches (pre-perforated) onto a wool sweater - would this be my best choice?

That thread would be too thick for the application you are inquiring about. If you are looking for something on the thicker side, a tex 60 poly or cotton wrapped polyester thread, like our JTD20* would work well.

It was designed for hand sewing, but you may be able to use it a machine. The needle size needed would be a size 18-21.
