A:
The only way to tell is by the wattage and voltage. This can usually be found on the base of the current bulb, or sometimes it is listed on the machine, where you screw in the bulb.

I just purchased the PRT6104 light bulb for my lamp, but it blows as soon as I put it in the light fixture. Is this defective?

A:
Most of the time, no, the bulb is not defective. These are very delicate bulbs that are only 17 watt/6.3 volt. If these are inserted into a light fixture that normally takes a 60 watt bulb, then it blow every time.
