The Dritz Styling Design Ruler is for pattern alteration, garment alterations or any time a curved or straight edge is needed. It is 4 rulers in 1 - French curve, hip curve, straight ruler and cut-out slots. The curve between numbers 1 and 17 is often used to alter hip lines, princess lines, one piece sleeves and hem lines. The curve between numbers 13 and 26 is often used to alter or mark armholes and sleeve caps and adjust necklines. The straight edge ruler with measurements marked off in 1/8" increments is used to alter side seams and shoulder seams, to lengthen and shorten the bodice, to adjust crotch depth and hemlines and to place the pattern on the fabric even with the grain. The slot is used to guide the tracing wheel when marking straight lines.

  • For altering patterns and garments

I’ve seen many other French curve rulers that look like this one, with a plastic material too, does this product break easily? More specifically, If it fell from table height, would it be damaged?

Hello and thanks for your question! This ruler is very flexible and would be hard to break.

Would you recommend to purchase this ruler in place of the French curve and the hip curve that is sold separately?

Hello! This is an economical ruler and will have the French and hip curve you need, and will be easier to store. It is made of a flexible plastic, so it's not as rigid as the other rulers. Some people like that, others like the stability of the metal rulers. Those are just some things to consider.

How does this compare to using th 24 inch hip and French curve tools for a regular sewer?

This design ruler is supposed to do the job 4 different ruler types, including the 24" hip and French curve. It's a great option due to its convenience, economy, and when storing. Thanks for your question.

Very satisfied with my ruler and customer service

This Item fell from my cutting table to the floor and broke in 3 large pieces. I contacted customer service and they sent me another ruler immediately. They also called me and told me they were going to replace it, called me when they mailed it and then followed up with a 3rd call to be sure that I received it. In this day and age this type of customer service is very rare. No wonder this company has been in business for so many year. Thank you.

Hi Jeanne- we will call you regarding this matter. Wow! Thanks so much for your update. We're blown away by your kind words and we're happy to hear that you received the replacement and that it arrived safely.
