Why does the tailors chalk change shades from order to order?

A:
The manufacture makes different color chalks, including yellow and white. When they are switching from one batch to the other (for example from yellow to white) this will cause the first few boxes of the new "white batch" to be a little more yellow and vice versa, sometimes the first few from a yellow batch, can appear whiter than it should... as it is mixed with the previous white batch.

Better Than a Chalk Pencil

I use this chalk all the time to mark craft projects and garment-sewing. It's clay, so it doesn't disappear when I steam iron like the wax chalk can. It is easy to see and brushes out well -- so far I've never had it permanently stain my fabric. The color assortment is great. Whether you're sewing on dark or light fabrics, you'll find one that will show up on your project.
