Our most popular jean thread, durable, color-fast and a great value! This exceptionally strong, extra-heavy #80 thread is specifically designed for jean stitching. Available in 750 yard spools. No other heavy weight, top-stitch spun thread delivers the consistently smooth and fuzz-free results. Ideal for finishing recycled denim projects or hemming jeans with a professional look. Also great for quilting when you really want the thread to show, in addition to decorative serging, sashiko and any other top-stitch application.

Great thread and color selection by

I love this thread and the great color choices. It is the strongest thread.

Love This Thread by

5.0

I love this thread; I only wish they offered it in a multi-pack option so I could order one of each at a discounted price. But the thread sews wonderfully and is just the right thickness for the look I want. Better than the Tex 60 option.

Great for leather garment repairs by

5.0

I am a leather crafter. I get a lot of business from bikers that need patches sewn onto their vests, chaps hemmed, and seams repaired. Generally, bonded nylon is used to stitch hard leathers like holsters and saddle bags. However, those items are rigid. The human body moves, and garment leather breathes. Bonded nylon thread does not breathe and is rigid. Over time, it will saw through the leather and make the needle holes bigger. It is not recommended for leather garments.

I have found that this thread breathes with the leather due to the cotton and has the strength and durability of polyester. The Tex 80 makes it virtually impossible to rip a patch off by hand (apparently, some clubs do a "patch check" as a means of making sure the members are taking care of their patches.) It is available in enough colors that I can fairly closely match the border of the patch. I keep one of every color on my thread rack.

Pro-Tip: If you ever create a leather garment using a home sewing machine, use the longest stitch length possible. If you pay attention to how leather garments are made, you will find that most use 8-12 per inch. If your stitches are too small, the leather perforates and weakens. If this happens, the leather will rip before this thread does when a club does a "patch check". Never use a stitch smaller than 16 per inch.
